Mother's Day is for all Moms : Top 5 Dog-Mom Presents
By: Jeff Noce, Voyce President
Mother’s Day is just around the corner…that day when we celebrate all the wonderful things our moms do for their families all year long. In the past, this day was traditionally reserved for mothers of human children. But that’s starting to change because more and more of us are thinking of ourselves as parents to our four-legged friends.
In fact, one online survey showed that 54% of people with pets consider themselves “pet parents” rather than “pet owners. And 58% are comfortable using nicknames such as “mommy” and “daddy.”
So if you know and love someone who considers herself the mother of a furred family member, here are some of my favorite dog-centric gifts.
Send a Dog-Themed Bouquet
Most moms welcome flowers on their special day. But dog moms will especially love the A-Dog-Ables collection from 1-800-FLOWERS. These hand-designed bouquets feature a cute white pup created entirely out of flowers.
Make a Donation
Every dog mom I know has a big heart for helping other animals in need. So why not make a charitable donation in her name to a favorite shelter, rescue or animal cause? Not sure which organization she prefers? A charity gift card from an organization like JustGive.org will let her choose where her gift goes.
Commission a Pet Portrait
There’s nothing quite like having your precious pooch turned into a real-live piece of art. Luckily, these days, portraits no long involve sitting still for long periods of time. Many local and online artists can create a beautiful likeness of mom’s best friend with just a photo or two. Etsy is a great resource for finding talented artists who specialize in pets.
Buy Her a Book
If the dog mom in your life loves to read, there are few gifts that she would enjoy more than a whole book centered around pups. From fiction to coffee table books to memoirs, there are thousands of titles to choose from. Because you can’t go wrong with a book full of sweet dog photos, check out Old Dogs Are the Best Dogs by Gene Weingarten and Michael S. Williamson.
Give Her Peace of Mind
It’s a fact of life: moms worry. It doesn’t matter if their children have two legs or four – they’re always going to be concerned about the health and happiness of their kids. But you can help put her mind at ease by giving her the Voyce Health Monitor. Worn around her fur-kid’s neck like a collar, the monitor tracks key wellness indicators such as heart and respiratory rate, activity and rest. Then, by using the online Wellness Center, she can easily track trends and spot any changes that might require a visit to the vet. Peace of mind. There’s no better gift.
